Funeral service for Arthur Renald Moscatelli, 89, of Aurora, will be 10:30am Monday, October 18, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors will be accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. Burial will be in the Eveleth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arthur Moscatelli died Monday, October 11, 2010 at Essentia Health - Northern Pines Medical Center (White Community Hospital) in Aurora. He was born July 6, 1921 in Eveleth, MN. He was a graduate of Eveleth High School and Junior College. After attending the University of Minnesota, where he played in the University band for one year, he enlisted in the artillery and participated in World War II and the Korean War. He returned to the University and earned a BA degree in Industrial Psychology, a BS degree in Education and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration. He continued his graduate work at the U of MN, and later at Columbia University, the University of Wyoming and University of Minnesota-Duluth. He taught school and became Assistant Principal at Mahnomen, MN. He was also High School Principal at Barnesville and a Senior High Principal at Pipestone, MN. He married Lillian Chivers in 1948 in Minot, ND. In 1958 he became the High School Principal of the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School and served in that capacity for over 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion, the Minnesota National Assoc. of Secondary School Principals, Vice President of the Phi Delta Kappa professional fraternity, President of the Western Minnesota MEA, President of the Iron Range Principal's Assoc. and life member of the National Education Association. He was a member of the Minnesota North Central Assoc. committee for Secondary Schools and Colleges for six years. He served as chairman of eight NCA Visiting and Validation Teams that visited schools in northern Minnesota. He was also Vice President of the Iron Range Conference. He sponsored workshops for teachers in the Western Teachers Assoc. and for principals (with UMD) in northeastern Minnesota. He was a past member of the Board of Trustees of the United Methodist Church of Aurora for several terms and more recently the Chairman of the Administrative Board. He enjoyed traveling and reading as well as hunting and fishing. His favorite hobby was carpentry and he wrote several books. He was very fond of his grandchildren and enjoyed watching their activities and sporting events. Survivors include his wife, Lillian, daughter, Linda Myklebust of Tower, sons, Peter (Becky) Moscatelli of Chanhassen, MN, Todd (Jennie) Moscatelli of El Dorado Hills, CA and Gari (Lizette) Moscatelli of Forest Lake, MN, eight grandchildren: Megan Myklebust Uhan, Ryan Myklebust, Eric and Andrea Moscatelli, Tia and Tess Moscatelli and Joey and Tatyana Moscatelli. He was preceded in death by his parents, Liborio and Catherine, brothers: Colonel Tito Moscatelli and Peter Moscatelli, two infant grandchildren: Tate Catherine and Julia Alline
