Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Palo with Pastor Jeanne Madsen officiating. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Memorials are kindly preferred.
Wendy Ann Korva, 55, of Hoyt Lakes died Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.
Wendy was born on April 10, 1971 to Donald and Bonnie (Bonneville) Petersen in Virginia. She graduated from the first graduating class at Mesabi East in 1989. After high school, Wendy devotedly raised her family. She was united in marriage to Cory Korva on August 11, 2008. Wendy worked as a bartender for twenty years, most recently at the Haven Bar and Grill in Hoyt Lakes as a bar manager. Wendy enjoyed working and considered her patrons as her friends. She also took pleasure in visiting Fortune Bay. Wendy took the greatest joy in being a Nana and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Cory; children: Joshua Christianson-Petersen of Hoyt Lakes, Breianna (Jake) Egan of Aurora and Kyle Berg of Aurora; grandchildren: Azaria Christianson-Petersen and Hudson Egan; her mother, Bonnie Petersen; siblings: Walt (Connie) Petersen, Bill (Pat) Petersen, Donna Anderson, Pat (Scott) Jacobson, Penny (Scott) Heikkinen and Eve (Jerry) Barry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Petersen; mother-in-law, Betty Korva; brother-in-law, Joey Korva; and nephew, Chad Petersen.
