With deep love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the passing of Roxanne Lynn Horton (Jensen), who went home to Heaven peacefully on February 14, 2026, at the age of 73. Roxanne was born on March 23, 1952, to Kenneth and Ella (Kent) Jensen in Duluth, Minnesota. And, while our hearts will miss her dearly, we find comfort in knowing she is no longer burdened by illness and is finally at rest.
Roxanne was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving her country with strength, honor, and unwavering dedication. Her time in service of our country remained a source of immense pride throughout her life, and she carried the values of discipline, loyalty, and courage into everything she did.
Above all else, she was a devoted mother to her two children, Geneva and Ryan. As a single parent, she worked tirelessly to provide a stable and loving home. Through every challenge, she led with courage, resilience, and an unshakable belief in her children. She was their protector, encourager, safe place, and greatest hero.
A lifelong hard worker, Roxanne believed in showing up, giving her best, and never giving up. She was employed over the years by People’s Natural Gas, LTV, Delta Dental/Anthem, and the Catholic parish in the Iron Range area. She also devoted many years to caring for her sister, Shawna, helping to provide her with a beautiful and meaningful life. Roxanne faced life’s hardships with grace and determination, teaching those around her the true meaning of perseverance. Her strength was quiet but powerful, and her love was constant and fierce.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Geneva (Michael) Niemi of Aurora; her grandchildren, Gavin and Owen Flack, of Hoyt Lakes; her brother, Kurt (Sharon) Jensen of Gilbert; her sister, Deborah (Kenneth) Brassill of Two Harbors; and many extended family members and friends who were blessed by her kindness, humor, and steadfast spirit.
Today, we choose to celebrate her freedom from pain and the legacy she leaves behind—one of service, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Her life was a testament to strength and devotion, and her memory will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her. The family would like to thank all that brought light to Roxanne’s life.
Roxanne was preceded in death by her son, Ryan Horton; her siblings, Kris Jensen, Mark Jensen, Shawna Jensen, Mike Jensen; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026 with Deacon Mark Skala officiating at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery with military honors to be accorded by the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes Color Guard at a later date. In honor of her proud service and to celebrate her life, the family welcomes those who wish to join them at a later date for a luncheon at the Hoyt Lakes VFW in late spring 2026. Details of this gathering will be shared at a later time. Memorials are kindly preferred in lieu of flowers.
