Ronald Knutson

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Virginia with Pastor Brad Felix officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honor will be accorded by the Virginia Color Guard. Inurnment will be in the Buhl Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements are pending with the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Memorials are kindly preferred in lieu of flowers.

Ronald Miller Knutson, 80, of Mt. Iron died Friday, September 5, 2025 at Aspirus St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth following a short battle with cancer.

Ron was born on August 15, 1945 to Miller and Catherine (Fontana) Knutson in Duluth. He grew up and attended Martin-Hughes High School in Buhl. Ron enlisted in the US Navy where he dedicated six years and was part of the Guided Missile Cruiser Team. Ron was united in marriage to Carol Salo until her untimely death. He worked at US Steel as a manager until his retirement after thirty years of service. Following retirement, Ron kept busy working various jobs including teaching Boiler and Diesel Mechanics at Hibbing Community College. He also volunteered as a driver bringing veterans to medical appointments at the VA. He enjoyed working on vehicles, riding motorcycles and was always willing to offer help to his family and friends. Later in life, he met Jane Puzel. The couple spent the last twenty-five wonderful years together.

Survivors include his daughter: Laura (Dan) Bauman of Apple Valley; several grandchildren; his life partner: Jane Puzel of Mt. Iron; and bonus daughters: Sheila Puzel of Minneapolis and Melanie (Peter) Hutar of Mt. Iron.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; daughter, Sarah Toussaint; brother, Roger Knutson; and his parents.
