Robert Allan Kallio, passed on April 19, 2026 at home under hospice care.

He was born on December 15, 1941 to Sigurd and Ailie (Korhonen) Kallio in Biwabik. He was a self- employed contractor building over 100 houses and also worked for Nordass American Homes designing homes. Bob was proud of his Finnish heritage and loved speaking Finn to the old Embarrass Finlanders. He carved a hunting camp out of a back 40 from his homestead in Embarrass that he was very proud of and spent a lot of time entertaining and enjoying the woods. The hunting shack will live on as his legacy. He wrote a book “SISU Ranch-Looking Back 1990-2005”. He loved sports, playing, football, basketball and track in Embarrass and graduated in 1959. Bob loved cooking, entertaining, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with family and friends.

Bob was married to Lorna (Haberman) for 60 years and was proud of his 3 boys Kevin (Trish) of Embarrass, David (Jen) of Wynne Lake-Aurora and Curt (Teresa) of Chaska, MN.

He is survived by his wife, his 3 sons, brothers Eugene of Lincoln, CA, Kenneth (Barb) of Embarrass, Fred (Nancy) of Two Harbors, Dale (Steph) of Cloquet, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Evelyn Alderson and Ruth Eilola, and sister-in-law Sandy Kallio.

A big Thank You to the Moments Hospice Team especially Susan, Maddie, and Katie for the wonderful care and compassion they gave Bob for 11 months.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to SISU Heritage, Inc, Box 71, Embarrass, MN 55732, the Our Saviors Quilters or a charity of your choice.

Funeral service will be Friday, April 24 at 11:00 AM with visitation prior at 10:00 AM Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Aurora with Pastor Greg Anderson officiating. Interment at the Waasa Cemetery in Embarrass.

Casketbearers: Nick Kallio, Hannah Mittet, Jakson Kallio, Avery Heselton, Jordan Kallio and Braeden Sturgis.
