Richard Mitchell Depew, 71, of Hoyt Lakes died Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora.

 

Richard was born on October 5, 1952 to Chauncey and Betty (Usher) in St. Paul, MN. He graduated from the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School, Class of 1971.  Richard married Louise Deutsch on March 2, 1973.  Richard was employed by LTV Steel for 30 plus years doing multiple jobs during his career.  Upon retiring, he worked for Lake States Construction.

He always enjoyed teaching friends and family.  Richard prided himself on fixing things. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Great North, especially shed hunting in the spring time.  Trips to the Boundary waters, camping and deer hunting were his passions.  Richard was a caring man and always willing to help out.  He will be remembered for having such a big heart and always laughing.  Rick will be missed by so many.  He touched so many people in so many ways.

 

Survived by children: Ricky (Nicole) Depew, Danah Mason and Dusty (Debbie) Depew; grandchildren: Sam, Madisen (Austin) Briesemeister, Heather (Luke) Paine, Tyler, Lyra, Abby, Izzy, and Henry; Great grandchild, Huxley; sisters: Barb (Jimmy) Stephens, Toni (Wayne) Thuringer; as well as many nieces and nephews

 

Preceded by wife, Louise; Brother, Michael Depew; Father in Law, Jerome Deutsch; Mother in law, Lorraine Deutsch; Brothers-in-law: Andy Deutsch and Alan Riddle; and his parents.

 

A celebration of life will be held from 4-6 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Hoyt Lakes VFW.  Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.  Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.
