Raymond Lloyd Kiefat, 94, of Hoyt Lakes, died Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Essentia Health-Northern Pines Hospital in Aurora.
Ray was born on October 3, 1930, to George and Lena (Hanson) Kiefat in Aneta, ND. He was united in marriage to Bernice Cecilia Hassa in Minneapolis in 1954 and they were married for 64 years when Bernice passed away in 2018. Ray worked in Minneapolis, farmed in North Dakota and moved to northern Minnesota to work at Erie Mining Company. He retired from LTV Steel in 1991 as a sample tester in the lab after 34 years of employment.
Ray and Bernice enjoyed thirteen winters in Arizona, which he called the best years of his life. Through the years he enjoyed gardening, playing cards and cutting firewood, and he could fix just about anything. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and served on the finance council. Ray was a man of faith and was ready to meet his Lord. At nearly 95 years old, he had a life well lived.
He is survived by three sons: Kenneth (Pam), Craig (LaDonna) and David (Debra); and a daughter Joyce (John) Miklausich; five grandchildren: Cody Kiefat, Rieta Kiefat, Eric Miklausich, Andrea Gill and Heather Glass; several great-grandchildren; a sister Millie Mork, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; brothers: Alvin, Deloy and Lawrence; a sister Shirley Bentley; grandson Aaron Kiefat; and his parents.
Funeral service for Ray will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Charles Barnes officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are with Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Memorials to Faith Lutheran Church are kindly preferred in lieu of flowers.
