Funeral Mass for Paul Norbert Haverkamp, 79, of rural Gilbert, will be 10am Saturday, July 29, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Brandon Moravitz as celebrant.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-7pm with recitation of the rosary at 6:30pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and also one hour prior to the mass at the church on Saturday.  Burial will be in the Biwabik Township Cemetery.

Paul died Sunday, July 23, 2023 at his home on hospice care.

He was born September 22, 1943 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to Norbert and Ethel (Brunner) Haverkamp.  Paul was a 1961 graduate of Buhl High School and later married Isabel Mudek on August 28, 1965 at St. Fredricks Catholic Church in Verndale, Minnesota.

Paul worked at EvTac as a mechanic until his retirement.  He was an active member of St. Joseph’s parish, serving as trustee and a member of the Knights of Columbus.   In the early 2000’s, the couple enjoyed wintering in Mission, Texas.  Paul enjoyed gardening, attending auctions and rummage sales.

Survivors include his wife, Isabel; children: Paul, Clay, Joel (Stacy), Anne and Ross (Jessie); 12 grandchildren: Megan, Chase, Collin, Dominic, Blake, Logan, Karly, Carson, Aurora, Kaden, Mayci and Gavin; siblings: Allen Haverkamp, Pat (Tom) Ossell, Mike (Joey) Haverkamp, Karen (Mike) Brusseau and Brenda (Mitch) Miller; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Ethel.
