A Celebration of Life for Michael Bruce Jensen, 60, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 1:00-4:00pm Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the Hoyt Lakes VFW Post. Private family burial was held in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.

Mike died suddenly Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at his home in Hoyt Lakes.

He was born December 1, 1964 in Virginia, Minnesota to Kenneth and Ella Jensen. Mike was a graduate of Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School and later moved to Alaska where he worked as a landscaper. A couple years later, following his father’s illness, Mike returned to Hoyt Lakes. He worked in various capacities on the Iron Range and for many years worked as a cook in the restaurant industry.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed bird hunting. His cooking capabilities followed him at home and in his community. He would often cook for community events, arrange family pot luck dinners and enjoyed making homemade polish for friends and family. Mike was a quiet man who touched many lives in the community.

He was a member of the Timothy Robinson VFW Auxiliary, the Hoyt Lakes Jay-Cees and the ATV-Snowmobile Club.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; siblings: Roxanne Horton of Hoyt Lakes, Deborah (Kenneth) Brassill of Two Harbors and Kurt (Sharon) Jensen of Biwabik; four step-children: Nicole Ehrich, Brandi (Kenneth) Hascall, Justin Bakkethun and Tyler Bakkethun; several step-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ella; sister, Shawna Jensen; brothers: Kris and Mark Jensen; step-son, Nathan and nephew, Ryan.
