A Celebration of Life for Mervin Lyle “Skip” Trast Jr., 63, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 11am Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Pastor Gus Layman officiating.  Friends may gather one hour prior. 

Skip died Sunday, November 19, 2023 in Hoyt Lakes.

He was born June 23, 1960 to Mervin L and Carol (Olson) Trast Sr in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.  Following his schooling he moved to Oklahoma where he received his welding certificate.  Skip enlisted with the US Army and served in Georgia.

He attended Ely Community College where he was enrolled in the water treatment program and studied weather.  Skip had a long career in the construction and carpentry industry and most recently was the operations manager at East Mesabi Sanitation.  ON September 10, 2022 he married Dennise Line in Makinen, Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife, Dennise; children: Monique Mendez, Temea Mendez and Josh Licari; grandchildren: Daniel and Javier; step-children: Daron McNulty and Jon McNulty; step granddaughters: Alexa and Jordyn; siblings: Connie (Richard) Hipple, Anthony “Tony” Trast, Chris Trast, Timothy (Janie) Forsman, Tammy (Roger) Hipple, Candace Broll, Cory (Trish) Trast; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mervin Sr and Carol; brother, Elvin Broll Jr.; nephew, Nicholas
