Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Deacon Mark Skala officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik at a later date. Memorials are kindly preferred in lieu of flowers to the Biwabik Area Civic Association.
Mark Dumas Jackson, 90, of Biwabik died Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Carefree Living in Aurora.
Mark was born on September 21, 1935 to Charles and Rosalie (Licari) Jackson in Biwabik. He grew up in Washington State and later Biwabik. Mark was united in marriage to Darlene Leppanen on April 12, 1958. He had been employed by Erie Mining as a mechanic for thirty-four years until his retirement. Mark owned and operated Jackson Heating and Sheetmetal and Trusty Hardware along with Darlene. Mark was a founding member of the Biwabik Area Civic Association. He also served as a Biwabik City Councilor and on the Pepsi Challenge Board of Directors. Mark enjoyed traveling and was able to see 48 out of 50 states. He and Darlene spent many winters in the Florida Keys. Mark took the greatest pleasure in spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years: Darlene; two children: Curtis (Kathy) Jackson and Cheryl (Dale) Olson; grandchildren: Heather Jackson, Deanna (Tommy) Kingsley, Josh (Tiffany) Olson, Jordan (Jessica) Olson and Ariel (Ricky) Kainu; great-grandchildren: Austin (Katrina), Avery, Milo, Oakley, Magnus, Nova, Isaiah, Elizabeth, Asher and Everly; a sister, Connie Jackson; brother-in-law, Bill (Doris) Leppanen; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Clayton; grandson, Samuel Jackson; siblings: Arlene Saari and Larry Jackson; and his parents.
