Linda Lou Marafiot

Sep 24, 1948 — Jul 26, 2026

Linda Lou (Randa) Marafiot passed away peacefully at her home on July 26, 2026, surrounded by
the love of her family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Linda was known for her generous heart and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was the kind of person who always put others first, opening both her heart and her home to anyone in need of a helping hand. If you needed someone to listen, offer encouragement, or simply be there, Linda never hesitated.

After graduating from Cloquet High School, Linda embraced adventure, even taking a motorcycle trip to New York before beginning her career. She later moved to the Iron Range, where she worked as a legal secretary and met the love of her life, Dan Marafiot. The two were married on May 1, 1976, and together built a life centered on family, hard work, and lasting friendships.

Following a brief move to southern Minnesota, Linda returned to the Iron Range, where she found fulfillment working as the manager of Short Stop before beginning her career as an ARMHS worker. She was so dedicated to serving others that she retired from the profession three separate times, each time returning because helping people was simply part of who she was.

Nothing brought Linda greater joy than being "Grandma." She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, delighting in watching her family grow. Her greatest happiness was simply being together with the people she loved. She also deeply valued the friendships she built throughout her life, finding joy in sharing stories, laughter, and supporting one another through every season of life.

Linda will be remembered for arriving early to everything, her unmistakable Finnish stubbornness, her talent as a card shark, and the unconditional love and support she gave so freely. Her greatest legacy was not measured by the work she did, but by the love she gave so freely.

When treatment was no longer an option, Linda chose to spend her remaining time at home, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Throughout her illness, she found strength in her T.O.P.S. family, her coworkers, her loved ones, and the many dear friends who surrounded her with love, encouragement, and unwavering support.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Marion Randa; her beloved husband, Dan Marafiot; her sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Larry Olson; and her in-laws, Bud and Gertrude Harrington.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Jodi (Matt) Anderson, Kim (Thad) Sweeney, and Joseph(Christine) Marafioti; nine cherished grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, with one more joyfully expected; as well as many beloved in-laws, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
