Linda Louise Levander, of Gilbert, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Northern Pines Nursing Home in Aurora.
Linda’s life was a life well lived, filled with love, laughter and friendship.
Linda was born April 11, 1948, the eleventh of thirteen children born to Nestor and Senia (Burkman) Komppa at home in Red Eye Township, MN. Linda was proud to be raised in such a large family where hard work, honesty and love were plentiful. Rarely a day passed where mention of days gone by with siblings were not mentioned and “Auntie Linda” was a title she held dear.
On October 5, 1968, Linda married the love of her life, Bruce Levander. Early in their marriage, they moved to Biwabik, MN when Bruce accepted employment with Erie Mining Company. Together, they built a wonderful life and lovingly raised three children. Linda loved nothing more than being a mother and grandma to her children and grandchildren and any bonus kids that walked through her door.
A hard-working woman, yet family was her top priority. Linda enjoyed many fishing seasons on Lake Superior as Bruce’s first mate. Special times with family and friends were her most cherished of belongings. Above all, her grandchildren filled her life with more joy than she could ever have imagined, always keeping up with their daily lives and being their biggest fan for all their sporting events. Pride filled her heart.
In later years, facing declining health, Linda faced it all without complaint and was the epitome of Sisu. She cherished every day spent with Bruce, her family and friends. She greatly enjoyed her phone calls with family and friends, especially with her daughter “Lulu,” hence Bruce often saying “there is no lack of communication.”
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Bruce; two children: Scott (Becca) Levander and Leigh Anne (Lee) Steblay of Biwabik; five grandchildren: Hunter, Cooper and Michaela Levander and Delaney and Devin Steblay; two brothers: Fred (Evelyn) Komppa of Hibbing and Gary Komppa of Colorado City, TX; brother-in-law, Barry Levander of Cheyenne, WY; two sisters-in-law: Jane Komppa of Paddock Township, MN and Rebecca Komppa of Sebeka, MN. In addition to numerous, nephews, nieces and friends.
Linda is proceeded in death by her son, Michael; parents: Nestor and Senia Komppa; six brothers: Gene, Andrew, Arve, Clifford, Larry and Donald, four sisters, Florence, who died as an infant, Annie Komppa, Hazel Schmitz, and Ruth Carpenter; two brothers-in-law: Calvin Carpenter and Jack Schmitz; five nephews: Chuck Komppa, David L. Brown, Jake Anderson, Craig Anderson, Gary Komppa and Travis Friesner; and one niece, Senia (Komppa) Munoz.
Linda’s family wishes to thank the staff of Essentia Health-Northern Pines for the wonderful loving care Linda received.
