Funeral Mass for Janice “Jan” Marie Casper, 87, of Eveleth, will be 11:00 am Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. David Forsman as Celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place in the Eveleth Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.
Jan died Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Cornerstone Villa in Buhl, Minnesota. Our sincere thanks to the staff at Cornerstone Villa for their compassionate care and kindness, ensuring she felt loved and cherished. She was born on October 7, 1938, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to Frank and Adeline (Skelly) Mager. She was a 1956 graduate of Grand Rapids High School when she met the love of her life, Larry Casper. On October 12, 1957, she married Larry in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Jan attended the Minnesota School of Business, earning a vocational degree. She completed many years of service in a clerical capacity at Northern State Bank and Northwest Bank before working for the Department of Transportation, a career she thoroughly enjoyed.Jan loved spending time with her dear friends in the Red Hat Ladies group, attending plays and concerts, and doing weekly water aerobics classes at the YMCA, followed by an essential stop for hot fudge sundaes at McDonald’s. Throughout her life, Jan treasured the enduring friendships she made in high school.Jan adored spending time with her grandchildren, including trips to South Padre Island, Caribbean cruises, and visits to Philadelphia.
Survivors include her children: Kelly (Pete) McKee, Kevin (Stacy) Casper, and Karen (Gregg Mensing) Casper; brothers: Dennis (Judy), Bill (Patrice), Mike (Stacey); sister, Paula (Don) Wydra; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry, of 64 years; her parents, Frank and Adeline; brother, Lonny; son, Keith; grandson, Neal; and granddaughter, Genevieve.
