Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2025 at the Biwabik Covenant Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church with Hospice Chaplain Jeff Jones officiating. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Memorials are kindly preferred in lieu of flowers.

Janette Evelyn Olson, 88, of Aurora died Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora.

She was born on August 14, 1936 to Alfred and Lucinda (Stelck) Marshall in Wadena, MN. She grew up and attended high school in Sebeka, MN where she was a cheerleader for the basketball team. It was there that she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Stanley Olson. The couple was married on July 1, 1955. Following Stanley’s untimely death, Janette was remarried to Jean Sammartano.

Janette worked as a lab and Xray technician for the East Range Clinic and White Community Hospital in Aurora, later retiring from Essentia Health. She was a member of the Biwabik Covenant Church where she taught Sunday School. Sharing her faith was very important to Janette, she led bible study classes at the Merritt House and Clayridge. Janette was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending softball tournaments as well as fishing. She took the greatest pleasure in spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children: Debra (Gary) Lageson, Steve Olson and Michael (Barb) Olson; grandchildren: Jason (Tina Lehtinen) Lageson, Jen (Dave) Lageson, Rene (Hector) Salas and Emily (Wade) Porter; great-grandchildren: Josh, Alex, Kaylah, McKenzi, Madison, Braeden, Evelyn, Jude and Gracie; Great-Great Grandchildren: Mason, Aubriannah, Miles, Jaxton, Jailee, Caden and Annabelle; a sister, Valda Levander; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Stanley and Jean; a great-grandchild, Sophia; siblings: Beverly and Everett; and her parents.

Janette’s family wishes to thank the staff, choir members and friends at Carefree Living in Aurora for their wonderful care, love and friendship.
