Henry "Hank" Pospeck

Henry “Hank” Pospeck, 89, of Hoyt Lakes died Wednesday, September 16, 2026 surrounded by loved ones at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s in Duluth.

Hank was born on February 24, 1937 to Bernard and Catherine (Uren) Pospeck in Ironwood, Michigan. He graduated from the Class of 1955 at A.D Johnston High School in Bessemer, MI. That fall following graduation, Hank enlisted into the US Army and upon his honorable discharge, transferred to the National Guards. Hank was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Gormley on September 7, 1957. The couple just recently celebrated their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary. Hank was employed by Erie Mining Company and later retired from LTV Steel after 35+ years of service as an electrician. He was a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes. Hank enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golfing. He was a member of the “Dew Crew” at the Hoyt Lakes Golf Course. Hank took several hunting and fishing trips to Colorado and Alaska. The family also took several camping road trips out west when the boys were young. He and Mary enjoyed many snowbird winters in South Padre Island, TX. Hank always looked forward to the Annual Pospeck Family Reunion in Marion Lake, MI. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Most of all, Hank took the greatest pleasure in his family and being a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for giving his loving and abundant hugs.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years: Mary; children: Edward (Margaret) Pospeck, Ronald (Julie) Pospeck, Richard (Luella) Pospeck; daughter-in-law, Gail Pospeck; grandchildren: Ryan (Christina) Pospeck, David Pospeck, Kaela Pospeck, Jessica (Ronnie) Carl and Bradley Pospeck; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters: Charlotte (Al) Wells and Laura (John) Modjewski; in-laws: Bob Green, Connie and Marlene Pospeck; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Paul; a granddaughter, Lacey Demartino; siblings: Donald, Gerald, Harold and Jim Pospeck, Connie Fugilie, Betty Koski and Darlene Green; and his parents.

Per Henry’s request no services are being held. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home of Aurora.
