Grace Marie Cherro

Grace Marie (Hartman) Cherro, 98, of Aurora, Minnesota died on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora.

Grace was born August 10, 1925 in Trego, Wisconsin to Herman and Lillian (Kehoe) Hartman.

She attended school in Spooner, Wisconsin. She then moved to Duluth and worked at Woolworth.

Grace was united in marriage to James John Cherro on December 15, 1945 in Duluth. They moved to Aurora in 1946 where they would spend the rest of their lives there raising their family.

Grace enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She loved attending craft sales and selling her goods. She was a past president and member of the Laurentian Craft Club, and she was everyone’s mother and “Grandma Grace.”

She was preceded in death by her husband James; sons, James and Arthur Cherro; parents, Herman and Lillian; sister, Audrey Greenfield; and brother, Raymond Hartman.

Grace is survived by her son, Michael (Christine) Cherro of Buhl, MN; daughter-in-law, Sharon Cherro of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren, Christine (Dwayne) Barstad of Castle Rock, CO, Paul Cherro of Colorado Springs, CO, Carrie (Jon) Jarvi of Fort Meyers, FL, David Cherro of Hoyt Lakes, and Tania (Will) Swisher of Sitka, Alaska; great-grandchildren, Brenna (Alex), Paul (Shannon), Karl, Joel (Robin), Kyle, Annika, Addison, Aleah, James, and Lilyana; sister-in-law, Patricia Hartman of Spooner, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
