Gemma Lehua Carter

Gemma Lehua Carter passed away on September 29, 2026 at Northern Pines Care Center in Aurora. She was born December 3, 1938 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was married June 21, 1957 to Donald Dale Carter Sr. They met in Des Moines, IA.

She worked at Arrow Shirt Factory in Virgina, MN until it closed, home hospice care, and retired from Mesabi East High School as Custodian in 1991. She volunteered at the Senior Center in Aurora and worked in housekeeping as a moonlighting job.

She and her husband were founding members of Assembly of God in Aurora, MN. As part of her retirement, she spent many winters in Tucson Arizona. She loved to knit, crochet, her flower garden and she loved animals

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Carter Sr., her parents John and Susan Ezzo, brother John Ezzo Jr., sister Barbara White, and two children John Carter & Eric Carter.

She is survived by her children Donald Carter Jr. of Tucson AZ, Stanley (Michelle) Carter of Burnsville MN, Paul Carter of Colorado, Curtis (Amy) Carter of Denver, CO, Brenda (Paul) Roue of Aurora MN, brother Marvideo (Freda) Ezzo of Hawaii, 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great – Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews

A Hawaiian Style Wake and Funeral Service will take place at The Legacy Church in Aurora. An evening wake will take place from 5-7 PM on October 8, 2026. A Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM with a visitation taking place an hour prior on October 9. 2026 at The Legacy Church 5007 Hwy 100 Aurora, MN.
