Frances Ida Preiner

Memorial Mass for Frances Ida Preiner, 89, of Gilbert will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn celebrating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church.  Inurnment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.  Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.

Frances died Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora.

She was born on October 6, 1933 to John and Mary (Maki) Kern in Gilbert.  Frances graduated from the Gilbert High School, Class of 1951.  Following high school she married Jim Preiner.  The couple raised two sons.  Frances worked for the US Post Office in Gilbert for thirty-three years, retiring as the Postmaster.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and very active in the Gilbert VFW Auxiliary.  She enjoyed golfing, bocce ball, curling and traveling.  Frances was an avid Minnesota Wild, Vikings, Twins and Timberwolves fan.  She took the greatest pleasure in spending time with her family and friends and was the greatest supporter of her children and grandchildren in their sports and school activities.

Survivors include her two sons: Jim (Connie) of Eveleth and Kim of Gilbert; grandchildren: Nick (Megan) Preiner, Megan Preiner, Michelle (Jamie) Litke, Carrie (Jered) Banks, and David (Amanda) Preiner; ten great-grandchildren and a baby girl on the way; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Penny Burke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Bob and John Kern; a sister, Grace Brotherton and a daughter-in-law, Barb Preiner
