Evelyn Mary Soderberg, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, with family at her side. At 96 years of age, Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of hard work and cherished memories. Born on April 29, 1929 in Elrosa, MN, Evelyn was the oldest of ten children born to Anton and Catherine (Peters) Kuefler. The Kuefler family eventually moved to the Wadena, MN family farm. Evelyn found her life partner in Hugo J. Soderberg, Bluffton, MN, and the two were united in marriage on Sept. 18, 1950 in Wadena, MN. They built a beautiful life together, raising seven children, starting at the Bluffton family farm and soon moving to the small mining town of Hoyt Lakes, MN in 1957. Evelyn and Hugo were beloved members of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes for over 60 years serving the church and the community. Evelyn was a strong presence in the community and often shared food and household items to those in need. She loved baking, sewing, dancing and teaching religious education to parish students for many years. She loved running into past students and hearing their thoughts and life experiences. Evelyn loved volunteering for the Queen of Peace parish but also enjoyed her work with AMAX, AHL High School, and the Hoyt Lakes Ben Franklin Drug Store, known as “The Ben” in the family.
Evelyn is preceded in death by parents and two brothers: Jim and Harold Kuefler; and husband, Hugo (1997); and son-in-law, Mike Bradley.
