Doris Day

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing with Pastor Tim Yearyean officiating. Friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the in the Biwabik Township Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.

Doris Goglin Day, 65, of Hibbing died Monday, March 9, 2026 at her home in Hibbing.

Doris Day entered this world on June 15, 1960, in Los Angeles, California, at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. She was welcomed into the family as a twin, alongside her sister, Donna Day, by parents Robert “Archi” Day and Maxine “Micki” Day. The arrival of the beautiful twins brought immense joy to their parents, especially as it held a special significance for Mom Micki, who herself was a twin. The twins entered this world with unique challenges, yet their devoted parents and caring big sister Denise embraced them wholeheartedly, ensuring they were always included and valued. Doris loved her name, reminiscent of the beloved movie star Doris Day. She frequently remarked, "My name is Doris Day, what’s yours?" She possessed a vibrant spirit and exuded a joyful demeanor.

Doris maintained the spirit of competition throughout her life. Throughout her years, participated in Special Olympics bowling, tennis, basketball and swimming as well as Miracle League Baseball. Doris did well in each sport and took great pride in her numerous ribbons and achievements. Her spirit shone brightly as she cheered for her roommates and teammates, embodying the essence of camaraderie and support. Doris was employed by MDI for over thirty years where she loved her work, excelled and was frequently recognized.

Survivors include her mother, Maxine “Micki” Day; sisters: Denise (Anthony Farah) Day and her twin, Donna Day; five double cousins and numerous other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Archie” Day.
