A Celebration of Life for Donald Lee Heem, 82, of Biwabik, will be 12noon-2pm Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Family remembrances will be at 1pm and military honors accorded by the Gilbert VFW will be at 2pm. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik. Donnie died Monday, March 7, 2022 at Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay, Minnesota. He was born February 14, 1940 in Little Fork, Minnesota to Oscar and Alvina Heem. Donnie was a US Army veteran, serving from 1962-1964. He worked construction nearly all of his life and was a resident of Biwabik for many years. He resided at the Minnesota Veterans Home for the past two years. Survivors include the two loves of his life, Karla and Kitty; siblings: Kenny, Larry, Helen, Kae, Linda, Norma and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Alvina; brothers, Dick and Willie; sisters, Arleen and Allie.
