DeWayne E Thies

Funeral service for DeWayne Eugene Thies, 84, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 11am Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Pastor Brad Felix officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at a later date in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.

DeWayne died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Essentia Health – Northern Pines in Aurora, MN.

He was born December 15, 1933 in Ada, Minnesota to Alfred and Lily (Vilmo) Thies. DeWayne began working at Herman’s Grocery Store in Ada and later married Lois Braunschweig on August 15, 1953 in rural Ada.

In 1957 they moved to Hoyt Lakes where he worked for Erie Mining Company. He retired from LTV Steel as a Foreman with 38 ½ years of service.

DeWayne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Virginia and was an avid bowler for TRC for many years. He especially enjoyed going for his daily walks and woodworking.

Survivors include his children: Lyn (James) Breitung of Solon Springs, WI and Paul Thies of Hoyt Lakes; two grandchildren: Eric and Alyssa; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; sons: Mark and Craig and his siblings: Don and Dalores.
