Derek Andrew Church

Derek Andrew Church, 34, of Hoyt Lakes died tragically in a motorcycle accident over Memorial Day Weekend.

He was born on March 11, 1991, to Tammy Trast and Jeffrey Church in Duluth, MN. He grew up on the Iron Range with his mother and sister.

Derek was a provider, working for several years as a trucker and most recently as an equipment operator at Dyno Nobel in Biwabik. He enjoyed his guns and shooting at the range, hiking and camping, Nordic history, going for motorcycle rides, puffing a cigar, and spending time with his family.

Derek will be remembered for his sense of humor and love for his family.

He will be forever missed by his wife, Stacie; three young children, Ivar, Lochlain, and his "little Johnny Appleseed" Bjorn; mother, "Mam," Tammy (Roger) Hipple; sister, Kayla (Josh) Lister; and all his family and friends.

A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home.
