Delores Olsen

A Memorial Service will take place at 12 PM on Thursday, September, 24 2026 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Mary Lou Sixberry officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.

Delores was born to Peter and Emily (Belardinelli) Kokal on December 3rd, 1932, in Duluth, MN. 9 months later they moved to Eveleth, MN, where she later graduated from Eveleth High School with the Class of 1950. She worked for Greyhound Bus Lines in Duluth until she married Ronald Habermann on January 20th, 1955, and they moved to West Allis, WI. While they were living in West Allis, they were blessed to raise 7 children together until Delores and her children moved to Hoyt Lakes, MN, in 1971. In 1998, she retired from working in registration at the East Range Clinics in Virginia and Aurora after 20 years of service. She then married Robert Olsen on June 8th, 1991. She was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Hoyt Lakes and served as the Secretary for Inter Church Ministries.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially when she would get phone calls or visits from them. She was the ultimate mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she loved to attend any events that her children and grandchildren were a part of. She could often be seen sitting in the bleachers for Hockey and Basketball games, or in the auditorium seats for dance recitals and concerts. She was always so proud of all their accomplishments and loved supporting them.

Her favorite day of the year was always Christmas Eve when all of the family would gather together. She would knit handmade dishcloths all year long to distribute to the family as special gifts along with their white envelopes. It was always so magical for her getting to be with her family, playing the dice game, watching the football game that was played in the street, and listening to Jim Reeves’ 12 Songs of Christmas. When the football game was done, she would just beam watching her sons and grandsons coming inside talking and laughing with each other.

When Northern Pines in Aurora became her new home, Delores was quick to make the residents and staff part of her family. She loved all of the activities that they had to offer but Bingo was her favorite game to play. She especially liked to use game boards with her birthday numbers on them, 12-3-32. She loved all of you and you were so special to her because you made her life so full. Thank you for everything you did for her.

Delores is survived by her brother Richard Kokal; her sisters DeAnn (Ralph) Mannila, Rosemary (Bob) Brandt, and Diane Kokal; her children Kimberly Zinski, Michelle Otto, Beth (Al) Haring, Ed (Tracy) Habermann, Steve (Linda) Habermann, Stephanie (Bob) Stecker, and Tim (Amy) Habermann; her grandchildren Hilary (Matt Cox) Zinski, Jeremy Zinski, Joshua (Rachel) Zinski, Joel (Maria) Zinski, Don (Rose) Otto, Joey (Kathy) Otto, Melissa Beggs, Kristina Anderson, Charlie (Samantha) Habermann, Russell Habermann, Henry (Lexie) Habermann, Amanda (Zack) Heuring, Hannah (Matt Schommer) Habermann, Samantha (Luke) Aman, Jake (Dominique) Habermann, and Max (Bridget Poidinger) Habermann; her great grandchildren Amelia, Oliver, and Henry Zinski, Jack Zinski, Amanda and Brandon Otto, Annabelle, Jasmine, and Brooklyn Otto, Mariah, Jordon, and Hailey Beggs, Dylan DeGroat, Cooper and Bennett Habermann, Parker and Emily Aman, and Oliver and Sullivan Habermann; and her stepchildren Linda Manning and family, Roberta (Jerry) Logan and family, and Teri (Mark) Mann and family; and all of her Northern Pines family.

She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Ronald Habermann; her husband Robert Olsen; her parents Peter and Emily Kokal; her brothers Donald, Peter, and Bruce Kokal; her sister-in-law Kathleen Kokal; and her sons-in-law Michael Zinski and Richard Otto.
