Funeral Mass for Bennett Aaron Peterson, 46, of Gilbert, will be 11am Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn as celebrant. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and will continue for one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Bennett died Friday, August 27, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. He was born July 24, 1964 in Hibbing, MN. He was a 1984 graduate of Virginia High School and later attended the Eveleth Vo-Tech as an auto mechanic. Bennett worked at L&M in Virginia for nearly seven years, later at LTV Mining as a production truck driver for over seven years and most recently at Empowerment Services Inc. as a resource counselor. On April 1, 1995, he and Tanya Malnar began their life together as a couple. They married Aug. 9, 1997 in Hoyt Lakes. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an all-around handyman who will be remembered for his "one-liners", his generosity and his willingness to help others whenever they needed it no matter the circumstance. Bennett also enjoyed baking and cooking and was affectionately known as "Benny Crocker." Survivors include his wife: Tanya; children: Breanna, Christopher, Brandon, Nicholas and Michael; parents: Dennis and Donna Peterson of Lakeland; sister: Susie (Larry Krogstad) Peterson of Lakeland; brothers: Jim Peterson of Minneapolis and Keith Peterson of LosAngeles, CA; sisters: Betty (Rick) Reed, Marlene (Erv) Winczewski, and Mary (Allan) Smith all of Florida; brothers: Gust (Rhea) Naslund of Hibbing and Billy Naslund of North Carolina; grandmother: Julia Glatch of Virginia; mother-in-law: Tina Elg of Gilbert; sister-in-law: Heidi (Lyle Berg) Anderson of Wyoming; several nieces, nephews, friends and his former wife and friend, Melissa (Gordy) Nissila.
