Memorial service for Ann Louise Hillman, 65, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 11am Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in Trinity United Methodist Church in Hoyt Lakes with Rev. Dorothy Bull officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Mrs. Hillman died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. She was born April 25, 1945 in Clyst Honiton, Devon, England to Elmer and Muriel Joyce (Hinnem) Paavola. Ann was delivered by a midwife at her grandparents residence at Mount Pleasanthouse. In 1946 she sailed with her mother on the Queen Mary to join her father in the United States. In 1963 she graduated from Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School and on May 14, 1966 she married Tom Hillman in Trinity United Methodist Church in Hoyt Lakes. Ann worked for Northwest Bank and the IGA in Hoyt Lakes prior to working for Herberger's Department Store in Virginia. She worked there from the mid-1980's until her retirement in 2003 as an office manager. Shortly after her retirement, she and Tom moved to Las Vegas. In 2005 they returned to Hoyt Lakes. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served as a former president of the Mesabi East Band Boosters. She enjoyed quilting, was an avid fan at her son's sporting events and especially enjoyed time spent with family. Survivors include her husband, Tom; sons: Marc Hillman of Bagdad, AZ and David (Melissa) Hillman of Virginia; grandchildren: Madeline, Mallory, Ethan and Amelia Hillman; siblings: Gary (Jan) Paavola of Hoyt Lakes, Robert (Melanie) Paavola of Hoyt Lakes, Muriel Vangness of Kasson and Glenn Paavola of Aurora; several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Kimberly Ann in 1967.
