Doris Liimatta

Doris Mary Ann Liimatta, 79, of Palo, died Wednesday May 26, 2010 at the Virginia Convalescent Center. Doris was born on February 26, 1931 in Palo, MN the daughter of Edward and Lyyli (Mattson) Kilpela. She was a graduate of the Superior High School. On June, 24 1950 Doris was united in marriage with Reino Liimatta. The couple made thier home in Palo. She was employed in Eveleth and Gilbert at the Cluett Peabody Shirt Factories. Doris had also worked as a home health aid for several years. She was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Palo. Doris was active in the Ladies of Kaleva, the Palo-Markham Senior Citizens, and the Gilbert VFW Auxiliary. Doris is survived by her children Connie McGath of Indiana, David (Rosalyn) Liimatta of Gilbert, Donna (Jerry) Starc of Buhl, Shelley (Daniel) Anttila of Palo; 12 grandchildren; and great grandchildren; brother Roy Kilpela of Cloquet; sister Janette (William) Mattson of Gilbert. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband Reino, brothers Leslie and Russell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday June 1, 2010 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Palo with Rev. Amy Eisenmann officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and continue Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Rauha Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.
