Harry Jordahl

Memorial service for Harry George Jordahl, 86, of Gilbert, will be 11am Monday, April 5, 2010 in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be accorded by the Gilbert VFW Post 4456. Mr. Jordahl died Tues. March 30, 2010 in Eveleth Health Services Park. He was born July 17, 1923 in rural Gonvick, MN to Tom and Bertha (Buchholz) Jordahl. Following his schooling, he worked on the family farm and later served our country in the US Navy at Pearl Harbor. There, he worked as a crane operator and was a Motor Machinists Mate 3rd Class. On Sept. 14, 1949 he married Loraine Eriksen in Borup, MN. In 1953 they moved to the Iron Range where he worked for Erie Mining Co. as a locomotive crane operator. He retired from there with 32 years of service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and in 2006 he received his high school diploma from Clearbrook-Gonvick High School. Besides gardening, Harry especially enjoyed buying and selling used cars and working on anything that was mechanical. Survivors include his sons: Bruce (Jeanne) of Gilbert, Michael (Jody) of Aurora, Kirby (Debbie) of Gilbert and Brian (Michelle) Jordahl of Gilbert; daughters: Marilyn (Jere) Hurd of Hibbing, Wendy (Dennis) Kehoe of Markham and Lorna Hiti of Eveleth; grandchildren: Jeremy Hurd, David (Stacy) Hurd, Steven (Tanya) Hurd, Kara Hurd, Jeanne (Chad Walker) Hurd, Erik (Lutasha Motts) Jordahl, Aaron (Jeanne) Jordahl, Dana Jordahl, Chelsea Jordahl, Holly (Isaac) Alfton, Samuel Kehoe, Zachary Kehoe, Jessica Jordahl, Sara Jordahl, Jennifer Jordahl, Jason Jordahl, Richard (JoAnn) Kois, Matthew Mattson, Luke Mattson, Nicole Hiti and Dylan Hiti; great grandchildren: Autumn Hurd, Lola Bergan, Simon Hurd, Skylar Meyer, Izeiah Kois and two expected great grandchilren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Loraine; daughter: Sheila Mattson; granddaughter: Amber Kois; son-in-law: Arvo Mattson; two sisters: Hazel Jordahl and Mae Nordlund; one brother: Berdin. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Eveleth Health Services Park for their care and concern while Harry was a resident at their facility.
