Frederick Kruckenberg

Memorial service for Frederick E. "Bud" Kruckenberg, 85, of Embarrass, will be 11am Tuesday April 6, 2010 in United Methodist Church in Aurora with Rev. Barbara Hegfors officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors will be accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. Inurnment will be in the Embarrass Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Mr. Kruckenberg died Wed. March 31, 2010 in St. Michael's Health and Rehab Center in Virginia. He was born Aug. 13, 1924 in Hartley, IA to Almus Henry and Willamina Kruckenberg. Bud served our country as a WWII Army veteran and was discharged in 1946. On Sept. 7, 1948 he married Martha Espey in Worthington, MN. They farmed in Hartley and began raising their family there. In 1958 they moved to the Iron Range. There he worked for Erie Mining Company and retired from there as a service truck driver. Bud was a member of United Methodist Church in Aurora, and was a Life member of the Babbitt Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Aurora American Legion Post. He especially enjoyed woodworking. Bud was a member and former Chief of the Embarrass Fire Department. Survivors include his wife: Martha; children: Alice Klaers, Mary (Robert) Wedll, Roger Kruckenberg and Jane (David) Karki; grandchildren: Teresa (Randy) Fietek, Tamara (Robert) Ellefson, Nicole (Christopher) Erickson, Travis (Hillary) Kruckenberg, Micheal (Marlo) Kruckenberg, Bambi Smith, Michael Karki and Bryan Karki; great grandchildren: Courtney and Tyler, Kyah and Hiatt, Carter and Chase, Lane and Riley, and Shaelynn and Shantel. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Herbert; sister: Dorothy Espey; son: Jerry Kruckenberg; son-in-law: Gene Klaers
