Leonard Zabrocki

Funeral Mass for Leonard Herman Zabrocki, 88, of Virginia, will be 11am Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Orr with Fr. Joseph Thomas and Fr. Frank Perkovich as con-celebrants. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Blessed Sacrement Cemetery in Greenbush, MN. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Mr. Zabrocki died Wednesday March 3, 2010 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia. He was born Apr. 7, 1921 in Greenbush, MN to Gration and Pelagia (Stanislawski) Zabrocki. Leonard attended school in Greenbush and in Aug. 1939 began working for L. J. General Merchandise Store in Greenbush as a sales clerk. He married Laila Laude in 1942 and shortly after that, servd our country during WWII in the Army signal corp as a radio repair man. Following his military service, he returned to the General Merchandise Store as manager, bookkeeper and sales clerk until 1950. From 1950 until 1953 he was self-employed at Len's Food Market. In February of 1953 he became General Manager of the Farmer's Co-op Trading Company. He managed the Orr, Ray, Gheen, Palo and Cherry Co-op stores until 1977. Leonard retired as a Line Attendant from U.S. Steel Min-Tac in 1982. Leonard was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Orr. Survivors include his children: Leonard (Delta) Zabrocki of Orr, Lawrence (Jackie) Zabrocki of Bemidji, John Zabrocki of Carlton and Cheryl (Dick Hicks) Archer of Barnes, WI; Seven Grandchildren; Ten Great Grandchildren; brother: Albin (Estelle) Zabrocki of Aurora. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: LeAnn; wife: Leila; brothers: Harry, Joe and Raymond; sisters: Nora, Clara, Marion and Florence.
