Viola C. Erchul

Private Family services for Viola Catherine Erchul, 91, of Gilbert, were held at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Inurnment was in the Gilbert Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will take place at 12 noon Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Gilbert VFW Post. Viola died Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Mt, Iron, Minnesota. She was born June 21, 1926 in Sparta, Minnesota to Oscar and Hannah (Alstrom) Gulbranson. She was a graduate of Eveleth High School and later worked as a secretary at the US Pentagon. She returned to Gilbert and married Richard Erchul Sr. on November 24, 1945. Vi worked at the Gilbert Bakery, and later began working for Erie Mining Company in 1957. She retired from there as a secretary with over 25 years of service. She was an active member of the Gilbert VFW Auxiliary and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a curler and enjoyed time spent following the grandchildren’s sporting events. Survivors include her children: Mary Jane Patrow of Gilbert and Richard (Shari) Erchul of Gilbert; seven grandchildren: Brian (JoAnn) Mohar, Rachelle (Ron) Huffman, Derek (Penny) Erchul, Bradley Erchul, Kimberly (Fred) Hendrickson, Joshua (Michelle) Patrow and Danielle (Matt) Brunner; sixteen great grandchildren: Matt and Tanner Mohar, Megan and Mitchell Huffman, Cortney and Kaylen Erchul, Dalton and Annika Hendrickson, Thomas, Nathan, Jesse and Nick Brunner, Destiny and Sydney Patrow, Kirsten Best and Heather Hill; several great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Jane (Bob) Salo of Virginia; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Hannah; husband, Richard Sr.; daughter, Vicki (Richard) Mohar; brothers: Arvid, Garfield “Gubby” and Dennis Gulbranson.
