Clarence A. Miller

February 9, 1935 — October 11, 2017

Clarence “Buddy” Miller, 82, of Gilbert, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born February 9, 1935 in Frazee, Minnesota to Arthur and Esther Miller. He attended school in Menahga, Minnesota and later joined the US Air Force in 1952. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and served in Kansas and England. He always enjoyed telling stories about the military and often wished he would have become a career military veteran. On January 26, 1957 he married Norma Stomberg and the couple were married for 57 years, until Norma’s death in January 2014. Clarence worked for Reserve Mining Company for 30 years until its closure. They lived in Ely until moving to Babbitt in 1963. He loved cars and had many of them. He was also an avid fisherman who caught many northern and walleye; however he would only eat walleye. While living in Babbitt he enjoyed picking blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and hazelnuts. Clarence and Norma moved to Gilbert in 1995 to be closer to family, but he always missed Babbitt and his fishing holes. He had a great love for dogs and raised many of them. He loved to reminisce about them and loved them with his whole heart. Survivors include his daughter, Cindy (Danny) Lauritsen of Eveleth; son, Jay (Wannette) Miller of Gilbert; grandchildren: Megan Lauritsen of Virginia and Heather and Colton Miller of Gilbert; sister, Judy (Terry) Paurus of Wolf Lake, MN. He is preceded in death by his wife, Norma, a daughter in infancy; and his parents, Arthur and Esther. At his request, there will be no formal funeral service. His family will be having a memorial service near his favorite fishing hole. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.
