Funeral service for Elsie R. Patrow, 81, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10:30am Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Eric Thiele officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Elsie died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Miller-Dwan Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born February 5, 1936 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Clarence and Annie (Peterson) Bartness. Elsie attended country schools for eight years prior to attending high school in Detroit Lakes. On September 25, 1952 she married Vaino Kivi in Detroit Lakes. They farmed until 1955 and in 1956 moved to Hoyt Lakes. Elsie worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory, Minntac and as a CNA at White Community Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. Following her retirement, she volunteered for several years for hospice. On August 1, 1992 she married David Patrow. Elsie was an active member at Faith Lutheran Church, its WELCA, church council and its prayer and quilting groups. She enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and was especially known as a caregiver to many. Elsie is survived by her children: Leslie (Pat) Kivi of Minneapolis, Curtis (Michele) Kivi of Coon Rapids, Mike Patrow of Hutchinson, Sandy (Vern) Hoechst of Hoyt Lakes, Donna (Steve) Dean of Alpena, MI, and Carol (Tim) Wallace of Henderson, NV; son-in-law: Bobby (Sharon Camacho) Turk of Hoyt Lakes; 11 grandchildren: Amy Turk, Melissa (Brent) Lamppa, Judd (Sheilla) Kivi, Molly (Brandon) Larson, Adam (Haley Henjum) Hoechst, Elliot (Jess) Hoechst, Cortney Dean, Carrie (Chris) Wells, Anthony Dean, Ben Wallace and Trapper Kivi; 13 great grandchildren: Maggie and Allie Lamppa, Axel Kivi, Autumn, Adrian, Logan and Lane Larson, Brent Hoechst, Audianna, Willow and Krosby Hoechst, Raegan and Bailee Wells; sister: Cherice Anderson; sister-in-law: Ardene Bartness; best friend: Marie Dahlman. She is preceded in death by her parents: Clarence and Annie, husbands: Vaino Kivi and David Patrow, daughter: Sue Turk, brother: Bill Bartness, sister: Nancy Bartness.
