Jane L. Swartz

Funeral service for Jane L. Swartz, 91, of Biwabik, will be 10:30am Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Biwabik Covenant Church. Pastors Clyde Harvey and Donald Norr will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Wednesday at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik. Jane died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Essentia Health in Aurora, MN. She was born July 6, 1924 in Meadowlands, MN to Joseph and Anna (Zahradnik) Holets. Jane was a 1942 graduate of Meadowlands High School and married Raymond Swartz on February 11, 1950 in Hibbing. They resided in Cherry and McKinley and moved to Biwabik in 1968. Jane was a member of the Biwabik Covenant Church and its women’s groups, an active auxiliary member of the Peterson-Lofquist-Bronczyk American Legion Post and the Biwabik Senior Citizens. She was active in AARP, Western Fraternal Life Assoc., and served as a volunteer and board member of the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes/Palo/Biwabik Meals on Wheels program for nearly 20 years. Jane loved the outdoors including gardening, fishing, berry picking, birdwatching and all animals. Friendships with her neighbors and her relatives in the Czech Republic gave Jane special meaning. Jane was always willing to volunteer for a cause, and her passion was to share family values with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her sons: Kenneth of Las Vegas, Mark of Biwabik, Lonnie (Pam) of Hermantown and Warren (Jackie) of Lakeland; grandchildren: April (Jason) Patterson, Evan (Laura) Swartz, Brandon (Amy Pillsbury) Swartz, Kristin Swartz and Michael (Morgan) Swartz; great grandchildren: Nicholas, Grace, Elizabeth, Sammy, Noah, and Brantley; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond of 51 years; brothers: Albert, Harold and Miles; sister, Charlotte.
