Janice Mattson

A gathering of family and friends of Janice Renee Mattson, 35, of Aurora, will be held from 12 noon until 2 pm Friday, February 5, 2016 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. A graveside committal will immediately follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Janice died Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth as a result of a fall at her home. She was born March 6, 1980 in Aurora, MN to Ronald and Kristina (Dill) Mattson. Janice was a graduate of Mesabi East High School and later became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked in the health care industry and most currently was a direct care professional at Empowerment Services Inc. Janice especially enjoyed time with her children, family and friends. Occasionally she would find time for fishing and camping. Survivors include her children: Kendra and Colton Mattson; her mother, Kris Smith of McKinley; sisters: Violet Mattson of Sturgeon Lake and Veronica Mattson of Two Harbors; honorary brother, Dale Mock of Warren, MN; many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends also survive. She is preceded in death by her father, Ronald; and her grandparents.
