Richard E. Perkins

A gathering of friends and family for Richard E. Perkins, 60, of Aurora will be held from 1-3 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Richard died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora. He was born on April 27, 1955 to Leslie and Delores (Gohl) Perkins in Grand Rapids, MN. He grew up and attended school in Aurora, graduating from the Aurora High School, Class of 1973. Following high school, Richard went to work for Erie Mining Company, retiring from LTV Mining Company as a basin pump mechanic after 30 years of service. Richard was united in marriage to Cindy Adams on May 6, 1978 in Babbitt. The couple made their home south of Aurora. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, both with bow and rifle. Richard also enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Survivors include his wife of 37 years: Cindy; one son: Kevin Perkins of Aurora; his mother: Delores (Robert) Tretter of Aurora; four siblings: Marlys (Richard) Hendershot of Aurora, Janice (Joe) Dircks of Zim, Jane (Mark) Moen of Sarasota, FL, and John (Kathy) Tretter of Kila, MT; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Perkins.
