Funeral service for Anna Jean Kurtz, 83, of Hoyt Lakes will be 1 PM Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Jerry Kosanovich officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Anna died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at her home. She was born on November 24, 1932 to Fredrick and Martha Virginia (Norton) Williams in North Little Rock, AR. She grew up and attended N. Little Rock Central High School, Class of 1950. In 1962, she married William Cook and the couple had two children, Bryan and William. The couple divorced in 1974. Anna remained single for many years. During that time she moved to Hoyt Lakes and then to the Twin Cities. Anna met the love of her life, William “Mr. Bill” Kurtz while living in the Twin Cities. The couple were wed on November 20, 1993 in Hopkins, MN. Anna and Bill moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1998 following the death of their son-in-law, Ronald. They stayed in Hoyt Lakes for the remaining years of their lives. Anna was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Hoyt Lakes and the Mabelvale United Methodist Church in Mabelvale, AR and their guilds. Anna was active in the Inner Church Ministries where she recently retired as President. Anna was also a member of the Eastern Star both of Biwabik and Wenslow Louis of Minneapolis, where she served as worthy matron of both. She was also a member of the Adoniram Chapter of Eastern Star and the Adoniram #99 International Order of Rainbow for Girls, both of Mabelvale, AR. She was currently the President of the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Food Shelf. Anna served on the Hoyt Lakes Community Credit Union Board for four years, the Hoyt Lakes Library Board, and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary in Hoyt Lakes, and a grateful member of AL-ANON. Survivors include: Daughters: Bryan Ann Johnson of Hoyt Lakes; Julie (Tom) Norton of Bloomington, MN; and son: William Landon Cook of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren: Roger (Kali) Johnson of Hermantown and Virginia (Steve) Rogers of Rogers, AR; five great-grandchildren: Symantha Griffin, Chloe, Shane, and Christian Rogers, and Charlotte Johnson.
