Memorial service for Frances Lucille Kucera, 88, of Hoyt Lakes will be 1 PM Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Brendan Johnston officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Frances died Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Essentia Health-Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora. She was born on September 4, 1927 to Louis and Lucille (Courneya) Boorom in Detroit Lakes, MN. She grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes. Her family moved to Washington State where she eventually met and married Jerry Kucera. The couple had two children. As a military family, they traveled a lot, living in places such as Texas, Japan, Florida, Washington, and Minnesota. While living in Florida, Frances was the Director of Children’s Services at the Patrick Air Force Base. She enjoyed trips to the casinos, reading, crocheting, and yachting with her daughter’s family. Frances mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include: four grandchildren: Michael Proctor of Tacoma, WA, Jodie (Brian) Finnegan of Bellingham, WA, Crystal Kucera of Florida, and Matthew Kucera of Stillwater, MN; several great-grandchildren including a special great-granddaughter: Kayleigh Finnegan; two sisters: Barbara Lavaque of Chisholm and Karen (Richard) Wallace of Hoyt Lakes; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her daughter: Jerri Ellen Proctor; her son: Dean Kucera; a sister: Phyllis Klovstad; and her parents: Louis and Lucille Boorom.
