Patrick J McGinnis

A gathering of family and friends of Patrick Joseph McGinnis, 57, of Hoyt Lakes, will be from 5:00-7:00pm Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Patrick died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his residence. He was born September 3, 1957 in Aurora, MN to Donald and Helen (Gerdes) McGinnis. Pat was a 1976 graduate of Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School and later joined the US Marine Corp. Following his military service, he worked for Hibbing Tac and attended the Hibbing Vo Tech electricians program. He continued working for LTV Steel and finally for Northshore Mining as an electrician. In his earlier years he worked as a hospital instrumentation repairman in Elko, Nevada. Pat was a member of the Steelworkers Union and was an avid gardener and hunter. He especially enjoyed time spent with family. Survivors include his siblings: Mike McGinnis of Gilbert, Mark (Mary Ann) McGinnis of Gilbert, Sharon Niemi of Palo and Donna (Karl) Turk of Aurora; nieces and nephews: Ann, Gary, Michael, Andrea, Jon, Ryan and Kelly; great niece and nephews: Jack, Abigail and Mason; and his bird, Petri. He is preceded in death by his parents.
